CD “VÌREO”
VÌREO
Fabio Mina
Danilo Rinaldi
Mirco Ballabene
In spring 2011 Fabio Mina recorded in Walter Quintus' sound studio near Berlin the CD "VÌREO", the debut album of the young, italian flute player.
Fabio Mina writes about the making of VÌREO:
"Hildegard von Bingen’s words, music and visions have interested me for several years. I am especially attracted by her strong connection with Nature.
She speaks about virìditas, the green lymph, the life energy that runs inside us, as well as inside trees, plants and flowers. The energy that was blown by God into all living creatures.
I feel that through the music, through the sound, we can let the virìditas flow into us as it orginally did, in Hildegard’s visions.
The Latin title Vìreo means: I am full of the green life strength (vìriditas).
This music came out very spontaneously, and is mostly improvised except from some short, written, fixed parts.
The idea of vìriditas unifies all the pieces, even if each of them came to us through different influences. Quelle vive Luci (Those living Lights), for example, comes from Dante Alighieri’s description of the choirs of Angels appearing as singing, living lights; or Dhadhmàu (It is blown) which comes from the Bhagavadgītā.
We used various winds and percussion instruments to give each piece a different nuance, like the different nuances of green in Nature."
