CD “Ave Maris Stella”
Ave Maris Stella
A historical cross-section of music in honour of the Virgin Mary
There is a long tradition of music written to venerate the Virgin Mary, and it takes many forms: music which is part of the liturgy, music for choirs, prayers set to music or musical impressions inspired by paintings or sculpture.
Aya Yoshida's CD „Ave Maris Stella“ contains various pieces highlighting this diversity, presents a cross-section of several centuries of music history, from Johann Sebastian Bach via Marcel Dupré to Thomas Meyer-Fiebig and gives Aya Yoshida a further chance to document her great art as an organist.
